Community Learning Partnership

Community Learning Partnership is a national network of community college programs that are training the next generation of advocates, community organizers, and change makers. I supported the communication needs of the organization as it grew from a start-up to a nationwide non-profit, including the development and implementation of content and media strategies.

Student
Profiles

For a multi-year project, I profiled students and alumni affiliated with the Community Learning Partnership to help demonstrate the impact of the program. Read one example featuring Brenda Carrillo, a 2019 graduate of the CLP program.

Newsletter
Development

To promote the CLP network and strengthen brand awareness and identity, I launched a bi-monthly newsletter for the organization. Subjects included organizational updates, topical news, profiles of CLP network members, and more. The CLP newsletter experienced month-to-month growth and resulted in an average open rate of 40% — well above the typical average for non-profits.

Earned
Media

I developed a media list of local and national reporters covering education, advocacy, community change and more — and worked to gain earned media coverage of the CLP network at strategic moments during the growth of the organization. Read one example in Shelterforce Magazine — a leading community development media outlet.

“David provided essential communication support for the Community Learning Partnership for many years. He helped conceive comprehensive communication plans and helped us make them into a reality. He authored regular pieces of content for us, including newsletters and blog posts. Most effective were the profiles of students and team members David authored for us. These pieces were thoughtful and inspiring and helped us engage new partners and attract resources to support our expanding network.”
